At Predikt, we’re assembling a stellar AI team to build the world’s first financial digital twin. At the heart of this twin is a causal, human-in-the-loop, automated, multivariate time-series forecasting engine. This engine is powered by our custom AI stack and proprietary algorithms that were originally developed by our two technical founders (PhDs) at the KU Leuven machine learning lab. We’re looking for an ambitious AI research engineer to join our team and build out a next-generation product with us.

About the Role
As a Software Engineer at Predikt, you will be responsible for writing clean, efficient, and scalable code that supports our AI stack and other core functionalities. Your contributions will ensure the delivery of high-quality software through rigorous unit testing, integration testing, and peer code reviews.
Key Responsibilities
AI Research and Development:
- Conduct research to develop innovative AI models and algorithms.
- Experiment with and implement state-of-the-art AI techniques to improve product performance.
- Implement algorithms, set up experiments to test their performance, evaluate the results, design improvements, and repeat.
- Collaborate with academic and industry partners to stay at the forefront of AI advancements.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Work closely with software engineers to integrate AI models into production systems.
- Working with customers to test, improve, and deliver forecasting models.
- Proactively help out the team with bottlenecks (for example in software engineering or customer-facing analyses).
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated with the latest AI research, tools, and technologies.
- Identify and suggest improvements to existing AI models and processes to enhance performance and scalability.
- Participate in conferences, workshops, and seminars to keep abreast of AI advancements.
Documentation and Communication:
- Create and maintain documentation for research findings, algorithms, ideas, and development processes.
- Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to discuss research progress, technical challenges, and project requirements.
- Work with the CTO to create technical presentations and reports that intuitively convey complex ideas and roadmaps.
Mentorship and Knowledge Sharing:
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior researchers and interns.
- Share knowledge and best practices with the team to foster a collaborative and innovative research environment.

Requirements
- Proven experience (3 years or more) in AI research and development, ideally in a startup or fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and familiarity with AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, SciKit learn).
- Strong understanding of AI techniques, including machine learning, time-series forecasting, probabilistic reasoning, and deep learning.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
- Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Pragmatic problem-solving skills (we’re not an academic research lab)
Nice to Haves
- Experience in data engineering, including designing and managing data pipelines and workflows.
- Experience working with multivariate time-series forecasting (including seasonality and trend analysis).
